Shipping Rate

Set up shipping zones and rules so customers are charged the right delivery cost at checkout, from the Shipping Rate settings tab.

The Shipping Rate tab controls what customers pay for delivery and where you ship to. Open Settings from the dashboard sidebar and select the Shipping Rate tab.

Prefer to follow along in a video? Watch how to set up shipping rates right here, then read the guide below.

Or open it on YouTube.

When you haven't set anything up yet, the page shows No shipping zones yet. Click Create zone to create your first shipping zone and start managing rates.

Creating a shipping zone

Click Create zone to open the Create Shipping Zone form. A zone ties a set of locations to the delivery time and rules customers get.

Select zone

Choose where this zone applies:

  • Countries (required). The country or countries the zone covers.
  • States. Narrow the zone to specific states/regions (optional).
  • Cities. Narrow it further to specific cities (optional).

Leaving States or Cities empty applies the zone to the whole area above it — for example a country with no states selected covers the entire country.

Average delivery time

Set the Delivery duration (required) — for example 1-2 business days. This is shown to customers on the checkout page, so set a clear, consistent timeline to manage their expectations.

Define rules

Rules decide what shipping costs. The first rule that fits a customer's cart is what they'll pay — so the order of your rules matters. Click + Add rule to add one.

Each rule has:

  • Type. How the rule is matched:
    • Weight (Gm). Applies based on the cart's total weight in grams.
    • Price. Applies based on the cart's order total.
    • Always. A single flat rate that always applies, with no range.
  • From and To (required for Weight and Price). The range the rule covers — for example weight 0 to 100, or an order-total band. Always rules don't use a range.
  • Rule Cost (required). The delivery charge for that rule, set in $ (dollars) — for example $5.

Each rule row has two icons in its top-right corner:

  • Copy icon. Duplicates the rule, creating an identical rule below it that you can then adjust.
  • Delete icon. Removes that rule.

Add as many rules as you need, then click Save to create the zone, or Cancel to discard it.

Required fields are validated on save — an empty required field (such as From or Rule Cost) is outlined in red with Field is required until you fill it in.

Managing zones

Saved zones appear on the Shipping Rate page, each showing its country and delivery time, the State/Region and City it covers, and its Shipping Rates — for example an Always flat rate of $5.00. Use Create zone again to add more zones.

You can manage a saved zone in two ways:

  • Edit. Click Edit on a zone to reopen it and change its locations, delivery time, or rules.
  • Delete. Tick the checkbox next to a zone to select it — a Delete button appears at the top of the page. Click it to remove the selected zone. You can select more than one zone to delete them together.

What customers see

Once a shipping rate is set up, it's applied automatically when the customer fills in the checkout form. Based on their address and cart, the matching zone and rule determine the delivery charge shown at checkout, and the zone's delivery duration is displayed so they know how long shipping will take. The shipping cost is added to the order total on top of the product price, taxes, and any additional charges.

Order your rules from most specific to most general. Because the first matching rule wins, put narrow ranges before broad ones, and keep any Always flat-rate rule last so it only applies when nothing else matches.
